Assaia participated in Eurocontrol’s EATIN Event, a platform for showcasing innovative solutions to operational challenges in aviation

Our presence at the event was grounded in the understanding that aviation's operational complexities cannot be addressed in isolation. Many of the innovative projects introduced by the European Aviation Innovation Network (EATIN) dovetail with Assaia’s own initiatives, presenting opportunities for collaborative efforts in AI-driven technology development.

On May 27–28, 2025, Assaia participated in Eurocontrol’s EATIN Promote Event, held at the Eurocontrol Innovation Hub in Brétigny-sur-Orge, France. This annual gathering serves as a platform for showcasing innovative solutions to operational challenges in aviation. While the event typically brings together airport, airline, and ANSP stakeholders, this year saw the inclusion of representatives from the commercial sector, with Assaia being a part of this select group.

While not all EATIN projects focus directly on aircraft turnarounds, their influence is significant when it comes to improving ground operations efficiency. Air traffic flow management and airport operations management, though distinct, are inherently interconnected. They form the intricate links of a single operational chain. Solutions aimed at reducing delays and boosting predictability in airport and airline operations gain far more effectiveness when they are integrated and work in tandem.

Eurocontrol has been an advocate for this collaborative ethos, actively partnering with market leaders like Assaia to integrate cutting-edge capabilities into the tools already deployed at airports worldwide. By exploring how these advanced systems complement one another, we unlock considerable value for our shared customers.

This approach, which bridges government-funded innovation and commercially proven technology, is set to accelerate the implementation of practical, impactful solutions capable of delivering benefits from day one. It’s driven by an open approach to data usage and a commitment to collaborative decision-making. These principles are central to building a foundation for future progress in aviation operations.

Shining a Spotlight on ApronAI Suite

At the EATIN Promote Event, Assaia had the opportunity to showcase our ApronAI Suite and share insights into our product roadmap. Designed with an open architecture, ApronAI facilitates the seamless flow of computer vision-detected data into the airport and airline ecosystem. This integration allows for smarter decision-making and greater operational efficiency.

A highlight of our demonstration was how Assaia produces accurate predictions, such as Predicted Off-Block Time (POBT) and Predicted Aircraft Readiness Time (PRDT). These predictions draw on real-time factors to provide airports and airlines with actionable insights that help ensure flights depart on time. With both Assaia and Eurocontol building value and optimization of operations on predictions, we shared the observation that facilitation of data is a crucial step in any innovation process.

The demonstration sparked meaningful discussions on enhancing data-sharing practices and identifying ways to enable greater collaboration across the aviation sector. The interest from attendees further reinforced the importance of fostering open, mutually beneficial partnerships.

A Shared Purpose

Our participation in the EATIN Event would not have been possible without Eurocontrol’s initiative to bring together stakeholders with a shared purpose—to improve the resilience, sustainability, and efficiency of aviation operations. Whether from public entities or private organizations, every participant was united in their drive to contribute to what can only be described as a collective success. We are grateful for the opportunity to join this vibrant and forward-thinking conversation.

Testimonials

Using technology to move the aviation industry forward is in Alaska’s DNA, our teams have already been using Assaia to improve our aircraft turn processes, and we’re thrilled to help expand technology that will make us safer, more efficient, and offer an even better guest experience. This partnership represents the future of machine learning applications in aviation and will translate into significant advances in our industry.

Pasha Saleh
Corporate Development Director, Alaska Airlines

The use of Assaia's TurnaroundControl has provided our Airline Partners, Ground Handlers, and Service Providers with full visibility of the aircraft turn processes. The data, predictability, and visibility enhances our collective efficiency and resilience at Toronto Pearson. Paired with our A-CDM initiative, Assaia's TurnaroundControl provides crucial data driving A-CDM processes, a reduction in turn times, and a noticeable increase in on-time performance.

Dean Wright
Associate Director, Gating & Airport Flow

The way Turnaround 2.0 uses AI and machine learning to boost our zone controllers' efficiency is remarkable. They can now manage multiple gate activities with more focus on handling exceptions, rather than multitasking. Turnaround 2.0 is more than a tool for the present; it's a foundation for 'United Next,' growing with us and helping us surpass our operational goals efficiently.

Daniel Reed
Director of Station Operations, United Airlines

Our focus is to use innovation to make our operations smoother. We have selected Assaia because of the capabilities of the tool. But it is also really important for us that it has a good record of successful implementation, so we know it will deliver for us, for our airlines and ultimately for our passengers.

Dr Babett Stapel
Managing Director, Fraport Slovenjia

We are optimizing all our processes on the apron to shorten the time each aircraft needs to be on the ground, which benefits both our passengers and our airline partners. This is a common issue across our airports and we are talking to all of them about this technology.

Claus Grunow
VP of Corporate Strategy and Digitalization at Fraport

We are pleased to partner with Assaia to implement the ApronAI Turnaround Control solution at T4. This new solution will not only optimize operations and our work with our business partners, but will also help us to ensure a first-class customer experience at T4.
